So, what CMS do you guys use?
I'm looking for a free CMS for a site for a friend of a friend. I use expression engine at work, but this is a paid CMS. Have any of you used wordpress or similar, does it have simple capabilities of uploading images and posting articles, how much freedom do I have building up a site? Also is it easy to use? I've tried Joomla but it felt a bit too "clunky" to use... so I gave up... ![]() Let me know what you think, Thanks |

![]() I cheated and wrote my own. Wordpress is very capable as a CMS, after all it IS a CMS at heart, just be aware that there are security risks with it being so popular and open source. Also some "plugins" may be easily compromised. This just means you DO need to and MUST keep up todate with the version releases. |

Hi.
Agree with the Joomla thing. everyone raves about it being brilliant but I thought it was rubbish, also think the same of Drupal...neither operate "out of the box" the way I want them too. Wordpress is great for a free CMS but personally I cant go past Business Catalyst anymore. I love it!!! |

about joomla and drupal. Joomla didnt do it for me. Drupal i have not yet tried. easiest is just making your own CMS anyways, its a great exercise

It is a real mess, especially with the multitude of uncoordinated style sheets |

Well my vote goes to Joomla. After a steep learning curve it really can't be beat with over 5,000 extensions, templates and e-commerce capability. However, with that said there isn't much to be said when you build your own CMS and have the foundation of building the site the way you want it. Drupal is by far the worst one i've experienced. Some other good CMS systems are Concrete 5, Wordpress, and ModX. If you're just looking to edit you can use paid solutions such as PageLime and CushyCMS. Pagelime preferred.
