Looking for feedback on design

I'm a sometimes web designer/developer who has a love/hate relationship with CSS/PHP. I really only do work for friends & relatives. This one's for my wife's company.

The design is my own which I Wordpressified thanks to a few tutorials and by sneaking peaks at the source of other sites I liked.

I thought the design was awesome when I first came up with it, but after spending so much time looking at it, it's hard to tell whether it still looks good.

Please be honest. Does it look modern or tired and old? How's my color scheme? Fonts? What do you think of the rounded boxes that contain the content/sidebar? The menu? Also, not that I'd change it at this point, but was wordpress the right choice as CMS? Anything else that grates or delights?

There are some things I like, and some things just seem bland. I'm not the greatest designer though, so helping out with much more is difficult. One thing I don't like is how you faded out their heads on the main pic, just let them natrually be cut off.

What you could do is not look at the site for a week or two, and then come back, and decide what you like and don't like.

Good point. I could, but that might not be easy with the boss looking for a site soon.

For your target market the contrast is low. Slightly darker blue on a light blue is not good for reading on screen
