Here's a website that I designed for a relative's art portfolio.

It will need some more tweaks but here's what I have so far.

To be honest. I don't like the design. May be you try to make it a full page website.

i don't think the grey menu + black background work together very well. if you are going to have a bottom-border on the menu, you might as well just use a bit more space between the menu and the content. i would also use "outline: none;" for the menu links.
